Radford Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Position
Location: Radford, Virginia
Position Type: Part-Time (1,500 hours/year)
Reports To: Board of Directors
Position Overview
The Executive Director serves as the chief executive and public face of the Radford Chamber of Commerce. This role leads the organization’s strategic direction, strengthens the local business ecosystem, and champions Radford as a vibrant place to live, work, and invest. The Executive Director works closely with business leaders, city officials, educational institutions, and community partners to advance economic vitality and member success.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Planning
Develop and execute strategic plans that support business growth, workforce development, and community prosperity.
Advise and collaborate with the Board of Directors to set organizational goals, policies, and priorities.
Represent the Chamber at public meetings, community events, and regional economic development initiatives.
Membership Growth & Engagement
Recruit, retain, and support member businesses through strong relationship-building and responsive service.
Create and deliver high-value member programs including networking events, educational workshops, and promotional opportunities.
Maintain regular communication with members through newsletters, social media, and direct outreach.
Economic & Community Development
Partner with city leadership and regional organizations to promote business attraction, retention, and expansion.
Advocate for policies and initiatives that strengthen Radford’s economic climate.
Promote Radford’s brand as a destination for commerce, tourism, and talent.
Operations & Financial Management
Oversee daily operations including office management and program execution.
Develop and manage the annual budget ensuring financial sustainability and transparency.
Plan and execute major fundraising events including the annual golf tournament and year-end gala.
Secure sponsorships, grants, and partnerships to expand the Chamber’s resources and impact.
Marketing & Communications
Lead marketing and public relations efforts to elevate the Chamber’s visibility and influence.
Manage digital platforms including website content, social media, and online business directories.
Serve as a spokesperson for the Chamber and the Radford business community.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public administration, economic development, or related field.
Experience in leadership roles within chambers of commerce, nonprofits, economic development, or business management.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of small-city economic dynamics and familiarity with Southwest Virginia’s business landscape is a plus.
Proven financial management ability including budgeting, fundraising, and revenue development.
Proficiency in digital tools including CRM systems, social media, and basic design or marketing platforms.

Compensation
Salary commensurate with experience ($37,500 - $42,000). Final amount determined by the Board of Directors.
